ISSUP Kenya organised a 5-day free training for the Congo Nation Sans Drogues advocacy group. The training was based on the Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC 1).
Congo Nation Sans Drogues is a nonprofit organisation that focuses on prevention and care programmes for people affected by drugs in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The 5-day UTC training saw participation from various NGOs working in the fight against substance use disorders from all provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo and officials from the National Program for the Elimination of Drug Addiction and Toxic Substances (PNLCT) .
The director of this program thanked the organizers and assured them of the support of the Congolese government to such capacity-building initiatives. Congo Nation Sans Drogues has expressed interest in hosting an ISSUP National Chapter and is looking forward to the establishment of ISSUP DRC.
Special thanks to Dr Pamela Kaithuru and Paul Ndungu for facilitating and driving the training exercise.
