Presenter: Jonah Achema

Jonah Achema graduated with an upper second class in Linguistics from the University of Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria in 1991. He also holds a Post graduate Diploma in Criminology and Security Studies, Advanced Diploma in Terrorism, Security and Intelligence Studies and M.Sc. Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. Achema is an alumnus of Claremont University Graduate Course with a Graduate Certificate in Media Science for Evidence-Based Drug Use Prevention.

Upon graduation, Achema was posted to Newswatch, Nigeria’s foremost newsmagazine for the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps where he was retained for a flourishing journalism career that spanned some years before he was enlisted into the services of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as a Press Officer in 1997. Achema rose to the position of Head of Public Affairs, interfacing with the media and the general populace before he was drafted to Drug Demand Reduction Directorate where he served as Principal Staff Officer, Drug Abuse Preventive Education. The hallmark of his work at Drug Demand Reduction responsibility was his position as the Secretary/Head of Secretariat, Project Implementation Committee that handled the National Awareness Campaign for the Eradication of Drug Use and Illicit Crop Cultivation in Nigeria in 2008.

He is reputed for being a two-time spokesperson of NDLEA. He is currently a Deputy Commander of Narcotics serving at NDLEA Apapa Area Command in Lagos state, Nigeria.
