Care for co-occurring heavy alcohol use & depression

Background: Alcohol use and depression commonly co-occur, but services for substance use and mental health are seldom well-integrated, meaning people who experience heavy drinking and depression together can struggle to gain appropriate support.
In this presentation, we draw on data from a study conducted in the North East of England to consider:
1) material and discursive factors that shape the care experienced by people with heavy alcohol use and depression; 2) what these care experiences mean for their lives and future service provision.
