50 Pakistani substance use disorder treatment professionals successfully completed the UNODC Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) course 1-2 as part of the UNODC training programme on the UTC Basic Courses 1-8

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Narcotics Control, Ministry of National Health Services Regulation & Coordination and with support from Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, U.S. Department of State, successfully conducted a training on the Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) Basic courses on Modules1-2 for 50 substance use treatment professionals from Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Upon request from Islamabad Health Care Commission (IHRA) the UTC basic courses are organized in such a way to build the capacity of drug dependence treatment professionals on evidence-based substance use treatment services delivery, thus improving the quality of treatment services at the various drug treatment facilities operating in federal capital territory of Islamabad. With this first training in August 2022 and three (3) additional capacity building exercises planned up to February 2023, UNODC will train two groups of 50 substance use treatment professionals on eight (8) basic UTC courses through national trainers that were trained in the first phase of the UTC training programme 2018-19.
