Psychoactive substances do not generate new functions, they only inhibit or amplify existing ones. Virtually all psychoactive substances affect the dopaminergic system, and experimental evidence reveals that they also alter the endocannabinoid system . In this seminar by Dr. Oscar Prospéro García, the involvement of the endocannabinoid system in the mechanisms of substance dependence will be discussed.
