Health at a Glance: Europe 2016
The fourth edition of Health at a Glance presents key indicators of health and health systems throughout Europe. The quality of care has generally improved in most EU countries, yet disparities persist. Improved treatments for life-threatening conditions such as heart attacks, strokes and several types of cancer have led to higher survival rates, but there is still room in many countries to improve the implementation of best practices in acute and chronic care. The 2016 edition contains two new features: Two chapters analyse the links between population health and labour market outcomes and a new chapter on the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of health systems in Europe. The report also includes sections on smoking and alcohol consumption among children and adults.
