Anne Mathu, a Recovering Alcoholic, on my 19th year of total sobriety. I checked into rehab in 2005 after drinking for more than 20 years. I got my first drink from my father who was also an alcoholic at 10 years of age. The same time he introduced me to smoking. My drinking affected every aspect of my life in a negative way.

After rehab, I trained as a Recovery coach through Colombo Plan and also enrolled for a Diploma course in Counseling Psychology. My passion is helping women get out of addiction.

In 2023, the government of Kenya appointed me as a Board member of NACADA (National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse).
