This webinar will dispel many myths about what harm reduction is and what it is not. This webinar will give the details of how to make an alcohol harm reduction plan and will discuss various tools in the alcohol harm reduction toolbox. This session will explain how alcohol harm reduction supports every positive change and supports each individual in the goals that they choose for themselves, ranging from safe drinking to reduced drinking to quitting altogether. This webinar will explain how harm reduction is client-centered and how everyone who has a problem with alcohol can find a way to resolve that problem with a goal that they choose for themselves.
Presenter
Kenneth Anderson, MA, is the founder and CEO of HAMS (Harm Reduction, Abstinence, and Moderation Support), the world's only lay-led, free-of-charge support group for harm reduction for alcohol. He is also the author of, How to Change Your Drinking: a Harm Reduction Guide to Alcohol, BETTER IS BETTER!: Stories of alcohol harm reduction, and the book series, The Untold History of Addiction Treatment in the United States. Anderson is a regular presenter at the National Harm Reduction Conference and has also been a speaker on harm reduction for alcohol at NYU and the New School for Social Research, and many other venues. He holds a Master's degree in Psychology and Substance Abuse Counseling from the New School for Social Research.
