Tanzania had the opportunity to conduct a five-day Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC) Core Training from September 23 to 27, 2024. The training was designed to equip prevention professionals with essential skills and knowledge to address substance use issues effectively. Participants included representatives from the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA), the Ministry of Health, and the Tanzania Network of People who Use Drugs (TANPUD).
The training took place at the Antique Legacy Hotel in the Morogoro Region and was made possible through the sponsorship and facilitation of the Colombo Plan. Over the course of the program, participants were introduced to key aspects of the Universal Prevention Curriculum, covering evidence-based strategies and best practices in drug use prevention.
This event marks a significant step forward in Tanzania’s commitment to strengthening its prevention workforce and improving the country’s response to drug-related challenges. Participants left equipped with new insights and practical tools that will enhance prevention efforts in their respective areas.
This initiative underscores the importance of continuous professional development in the field of substance use prevention, and the positive impact it will have on both individuals and communities across Tanzania.
