Webinar "Change is in the Air: Taking Initiative Towards a Tobacco-Free Texas"
Webinar date and time:
Tue, Feb 7, 2017: 2 pm EST
Approximately 264 billion cigarettes were sold in the U.S. in 2015 and adults with mental illnesses smoked almost a third of them. This startling trend represented a missed opportunity for Texas’ behavioral health centers to proactively address tobacco use with their clients. Taking Texas Tobacco Free (TTTF) was the perfect way to move the needle forward, providing assistance to local mental health authorities across Texas looking to reverse this trend in one of our most vulnerable populations. The TTTF initiative helped local mental health authorities go tobacco free and with the resources and lessons learned from this webinar, your mental health facility can go tobacco free as well.
During this webinar, participants will learn about:
- Making the case for integrating tobacco cessation practices and utilizing tobacco cessation tools within community behavioral health setting.
- Developing and implementing tobacco-free workplace policies.
- Methods of offering tobacco treatment training and integrating tobacco use assessment into clinical practice.
- Strategies for capacity building & sustainability around maintaining tobacco-free initiatives.
