Focus is on the section of last week’s matrix cell release headed, “Don’t tell me what to do!” It explored probably the most well-evidenced way clinicians and counsellors can obstruct the progress of substance use patients: directing through advice and warnings, especially when the client is likely to react against being ‘told what to do’.
