Pharmacotherapy Specialist Role in Rehabilitation Centres


ISSUP UAE presents its webinar on Pharmacotherapy Services in Rehabilitation Settings.

The webinar: 

  1. Explores the role of a pharmacotherapy specialist in addiction rehabilitation centres as part of integrated care. 

  2. Explains the difference between a pharmacotherapy specialist's role in rehabilitation vs acute healthcare settings. 

  3. Highlights the main responsibilities of pharmacotherapy specialists within a multidisciplinary team.

  • How to start pharmacotherapy services in addiction rehabilitation settings. 

  • Understand the role that pharmacotherapy specialists can do within a multidisciplinary team.  

  • Explore the role of Pharmacoeconomics and pharmacogenetics in addiction rehabilitation settings. 

Presenter:

Dr. Ibrahim Khafagy 

Ibrahim Khafagy is currently a Pharmacotherapy Specialist at the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) in the UAE. Previously, he served as the lead pharmacist at Al Ain Hospital, responsible for providing Medication Therapy Management services to the mental health services section. With over 15 years of experience in various hospital pharmacy settings, he is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and Medication Therapy Management (BCMTM). Additionally, he holds certification as a professional in healthcare quality (CPHQ). He is also a graduate of the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (PPCR) program by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Mohammad has over 23 years of experience in hospital pharmacy practices. He commenced his career at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, where he was selected as a champion for medication safety, medication error reporting, and the management of cod boxes (crash cart medications).

Previously, Mohammad held leadership roles in various hospitals, including leading the Pharmacy Department at University Hospital in Sharjah and heading the Pharmacy departments at Tawam and Al Ain hospitals in the Al Ain Region. Notably, he founded the Clinic-Based Pharmacist Model and oversaw its implementation at the Behavioral Science Institute in Al Ain Hospital.
