Last September, a subregional meeting of ISSUP National Chapters in South America was held as part of the 2nd Annual ISSUP Peru Conference.
The event took place at the beautiful facilities of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, the host organization of ISSUP Peru. It brought together colleagues and friends from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, and representatives of the Peruvian Chapter, along with leaders from ITTC Peru and the OAS/CICAD.
During the meeting, the National Chapters of ISSUP presented the main achievements of the past year, the challenges they faced, and how they addressed and overcame these challenges to successfully complete their activities. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaborative ties between ISSUP National Chapters in South America and coordinate a regional agenda that allows for shared learning and progress on specific issues such as working with women, vulnerable populations, youth inclusion, training opportunities, and service quality, among other topics.
This exchange of experiences and best practices enables continued progress in strengthening the workforce in the subregion and enhances cooperation lines between us. It was agreed to begin implementing joint initiatives to address identified needs among us for the year 2025.
Many thanks to all the participants for making this a highly enriching and fruitful gathering that will benefit efforts in South America, and special thanks to the ISSUP Peru National Chapter for hosting us in their country and being such wonderful hosts.
