Dr. Silvia L. Cruz received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from The Center of Research and Advanced Studies, Mexico (Cinvestav) in 1990, and spent a year as a NIDA/INVEST fellow at the Medical College of Virginia, VCU and as invited researcher at the National Institute of Psychiatry, Mexico. She has worked as a full-time researcher and lecturer in the drug abuse field for the past 30 years. Dr. Cruz has served as graduate program coordinator and chairman of the Department of Pharmacobiology at Cinvestav, where she is currently full professor. She has mentored more than 30 graduate students and authored over 80 publications including peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and 3 books in the areas of drug addiction and psychopharmacology. Her main area of interest is the neurobiology of addiction.
