Description:
Many of our clients react to strong emotions by trying to get rid of them through the use of substances. Mindfulness can help clients manage uncomfortable feelings and avoid impulsive reactions or acting out. Mindfulness techniques can be added to standard treatment protocols and programs for little to no cost, and they can be used with both staff and clients. These skills will help clients in multiple areas of life and can be utilized closely with other therapies, such as CBT. This webinar will explore the value of mindfulness for those in treatment and recovery, how it relates to addiction, and specific techniques that can be used.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to describe the value of mindfulness for clients in treatment and recovery.
- Participants will be able to summarize how mindfulness can help clients self-soothe and avoid turning to drugs or alcohol.
- Participants will be able to utilize mindfulness techniques with clients.
