This term has emerged in Scotland recently. In the strategy document Rights, Respect and Recovery the Scottish Government claims that ‘over the last 10 years there has been a growing and thriving recovery movement.’
The term does not seem to apply to an established group or alliance of groups but to consist of people who self-identify individually or as part of a group as being part of a wider move- ment. The aims of such a movement remain unstated but seem to involve promoting the idea of recovery. (See advocacy; see recovery).
