Alcohol Use Disorders: Resilience and Risk Behaviour

New research suggests that certain personality traits, such as having a lack of restraint or being impulsive, increase the likelihood of developing alcohol use disorders. On the flip side, the study found that people with high resilience are particularly good at steering clear of such drink-related issues. On the relationship between resilience and alcohol use disorders, the investigation concluded that this is no causal link, but one that can be better-explained by considering environmental and genetic factors that may influence alcohol consumption.
