The European Drinking Table: Who Tops the List?

The recently published results from the European Social Survey provide us with an indication of who in Europe consumes the most alcohol.
Among the findings, notable are:
- The more well-off you are, the more you drink.
- The worse-off you are, the more likely you are to binge-drink.
- The Irish consume the most alcohol on the continent.
- Binge-drinking is the most widespread in Portugal. Britain placed second.
- With regard to the Nordic countries, Denmark tops the list for alcohol consumption, whereas you are most likely to binge-drink at the weekend if you are a Norwegian male.
