Seminar on Drug Addiction in Bangladesh

Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre

The Dhaka Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation Center, the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), and the Lion Club of Dhaka Oasis jointly organized an anti-drug seminar for the students and teachers of the university at IUBAT campus, Dhaka in Bangladesh on 14 November 2017. Director General, Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) Md. Jamal Uddin Ahmed was the chief guest and the seminar was presided by IUBAT Register Professor Dr. M A Jabbar. DAM Health Sector Head Iqbal Masud delivered a speech as a guest and Dr. Karen Lund, Senior Advisor of IUBAT College of Nursing delivered the welcome speech.

After that a power point presentation on the harmful effects of drug addiction were presented by Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation Center’s Counselor Abida Sultana. An open discussion was also conducted and the students took active participation in the open discussion part. At the end of the seminar, DAM Health Sector Head Iqbal Masud handed over the anti-drug poster of the Lion Club of Dhaka Oasis and the Chetona anti-drug organization to the Chief Guest Director General, Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) Md. Jamal Uddin Ahmed and the Chairperson IUBAT Register Professor Dr. M A Jabbar.

More than 500 students and teachers attended the seminar. The anti-drug seminar took place in the open conference area of the university at 3.00 pm. Before the seminar, free health services were provided by organizing a free medical camp from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm. Some physicians of the Urban Primary Health Care Services Delivery Project (UPHCSDP) of Dhaka Ahsania Mission provided free health services. The health services were provided to 286 students including teachers and other people of the university area.
