Strong Families Programme

The Strong Families Programme is a family skills prevention programme that was developed and piloted in Afghanistan with the support of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).

Taking into account the sustainable development goals, the programme supports caregivers to be better parents and strengthen positive age-specific and age-appropriate family functioning and interactions. The intervention is particularly designed for families in challenging settings.

This publication outlines the background, the values and philosophies, as well as the different components and structure of the programme. It also provides evidence of the programme success in reducing negative child behaviour and increasing well-being.
