Ecolink Alumnus host webinar on “Integrating UTC into Clinical Practice”
Ecolink UTC Alumni Association, a forum of addiction practitioners who did UTC course with Ecolink Institute in India have organized an international webinar on “Integrating Universal Treatment Curriculum into Clinical practice” on 2 October, 2021.
The event, organized in collaboration with the ISSUP-India chapter was attended by 186 ISSUP members from around the globe and another 200 people on facebook live. Dr. Thirumagal V, the global master Trainer of the Colombo Pan and chief trainer in the Ecolink Institute gave practical guidelines to its participants on how to integrate UTC into clinical practice.
Dr. Thomas Scaria, the Director of the Institute who opened the webinar said the very purpose of developing UTC by the Colombo Plan and the INL, US Department of State was for this “integration” and thereby improving the quality of the drug treatment around the globe. He said the Ecolink Institute was able to train nearly 200 addiction professionals in six batches from 17 countries, who inspired this webinar.
Ramya R, president of the Forum said the goal of the Alumni Association is to share knowledge and updated information among its members and others in order to ensure evidence based treatment services, particularly by its members. “Integrating what we have learnt into Clinical practice” is our priority and the webinar was part of this commitment.
John Smith, the chairman of the webinar committee introduced the speaker, Dr. Thirumagal as not only a Global Master trainer, but also with rich experience in clinical practice for over 35 years.
Dr.Thirumagal briefly explained the history and development of the Universal Treatment Curriculum and its purpose and impacts. She showcased eight living examples of how Ecolink Alumnis have successfully integrated some evidence based practices in their respective centers.
She has presented practical tips for integrating each curriculum into clinical practice with examples. The presentation was followed by a question answer session with a live discussion on the topic.
