Certificate Course in DrugAbuse Prevention Empowering Schools, Families, Communities & Workplaces for a Drug-Free Future This certificate course is designed to equip educators, youth leaders, public servants, and community stakeholders with the knowledge, skills, and creative tools to prevent substance abuse across key social domains National Dangerous Drugs Control Board 383 Kotte Road Rajagiriya The Certificate Award Ceremony for the Drug Abuse Prevention Course was held on 30th August 2025, under the esteemed patronage of the Director General of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB).
This milestone event celebrated the successful completion of a comprehensive training programme designed to prevent substance abuse across Sri Lanka’s key social sectors. Organized by the Preventive Education and Training Division of the NDDCB, the course was developed in alignment with international guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). It emphasized evidence-based strategies and culturally resonant approaches to prevention. The ceremony marked not only the awarding of certificates but the strengthening of a national movement toward empathy-driven, psychologically aware prevention efforts. Over the course of seven consecutive Saturdays, this transformative certificate programme delivered 48 hours of immersive education focused on preventing substance abuse across Sri Lanka’s most vital social domains: schools, youth networks, families, communities, media, and workplaces.
