From Data to Action: Strengthening Child Rehabilitation through the SERASI, BERJAYA, and SINARI Sekolah Programs

Adolescent drug abuse in Indonesia is rising, with prevalence among ages 15-24 increasing from .96% IN 2021 to 1.97% in 2023. About 181 per 10,000 adolescents as of February 2025. BNN recorded 3.3 million drug users, including 312,000 adolescents. Drug use worsens mental health, academic decline, and deviant behavior.

I-NAMHS reported 17.9 million adolescents (10-17) face mental health issues, mainly anxiety and depression. A BATAM Rehab study (2020-2024) found most began using drugs between 10-18, peaking at 15 (21%), with Meth use at 90%
and school dropout at 86%. In response, SERASI, BERJAYA, and SINARI SEKOLAH programs were launched to provide integrated, child-focused rehabilitation.
