Adfam - supporting families affected by drugs, alcohol and gambling in the UK
Dear colleagues,
I'm Rob Stebbings, Policy and Communications Lead at Adfam, a UK-based charity that represents anyone affected by the drug, alcohol or gambling problem of a family member or friend. We empower families, support frontline workers, and campaign for change.
For more information about the work that we do visit our website: adfam.org.uk, or follow us on Twitter: @AdfamUK, Instagram: @AdfamUK , Facebook: @AdfamUK and LinkedIn: @adfam.
You can contact us directly at: admin [at] adfam [dot] org [dot] uk, and my email is r [dot] stebbings [at] adfam [dot] org [dot] uk.
We're really keen to learn more about the work going on across the world to support families and affected others, both in terms of good practice, research and awareness raising, and would encourage colleagues and members to share their work on this platform.
I have included below some of Adfam's recent research publications:
Families in Lockdown
The effects of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK on the family and friends of people with a drug, alcohol or gambling problem
Families, substance use and mental health
Supporting families affected by the co-occurring mental ill health and substance misuse (dual diagnosis) of a loved one
Families of veterans with a substance use problem
- Fighting Their Own Battle: Families of Veterans with Substance Use Problems: Executive Summary
- Fighting Their Own Battle: Families of Veterans with Substance Use Problems: Full Report
- Family Force: Supporting families of veterans with a substance use problem: Support Model
We will soon be launching a research report on women affected by both someone else’s substance use, and domestic abuse and the interface between these two experiences, whilst later in the year we will also be releasing a research report focusing on Intimate Partner Relationships and non-dependent drinking, in collaboration with the Alcohol and Families Alliance.
Looks like there are some great resources here!
