SUMMARY:  This position requires the ability to develop a comprehensive substance use prevention and intervention program. Provides individual and group counselling to students. Delivers prevention programming to the greater Lewiston High School community.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

Provides individual support for students who are referred by school staff or self referred. 
Delivers classroom lessons based on substance use prevention.
Provides short term individual/group substance use prevention education to students who violate the Lewiston Public Schools substance use policies.
Assist school personnel in the non-clinical assessment, intervention, and referral for students involved with or at risk of substance use, including substance use policy violations and athletic contract violations.
Refers students and families to outside counselling resources for long-term counselling support.
Develops and maintains partnerships with community agencies and organisations.
Collaborates with families, school staff, administration, and the community to support student success and wellness.
Maintains training and certifications in substance use prevention topics including: alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, and other topics as appropriate.
Advocates for development and implementation of current, best practice policies and school supports as they relate to substance use prevention and intervention.
Advising student organisations which focus on substance use prevention and student wellness.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree in counselling or social work.

School counselling certificate (075) or clinical social work licensure
