Job Title: Therapist

Department: Recovery Services

Employment Status: Full-time/Regular/Exempt

Qualifications:  A Christian with strong convictions who is also in agreement with White’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct. Must have a Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work with a license as an LCSW, LSW, LMHC, LMHCA, LMFT or LCAC.  Experience and credential(s) serving individuals with Substance Use Disorders required.  This particular assignment is for working with youth within White’s Recovery Services program. 

Reports to: Vice President and Executive Director of Recovery Services

Job Summary:Provide clinical services/treatment including assessment, treatment planning/oversight, and counseling to youth and their families meeting the clinical requirements of the ASAM 3.5 Level of Care.  The therapist must demonstrate sensitivity to the service population’s religious, cultural, and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

Basic Responsibilities

Treatment

  • Ensure adherence to the ASAM 3.5 Level of Care requirements for clinical services per week
  • Provide group, individual, and family treatment using evidenced based modalities for individuals with Substance Use Disorders   
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours crisis response for the Residential Campus

Administrative

  • Complete Clinical Assessments to provide DSM diagnoses for clients
  • Complete Recovery Services Treatment Plans and update every seven days to meet ASAM 3.5 requirements  
  • Complete Recovery Services prior authorizations to meet Medicaid and Insurance requirements
  • Complete Service Note Documentation per White’s policy
  • Complete Critical Incident Reports when necessary
  • Approve and update safety plans when required based on youth special precautions
  • Assist with Recovery Services development research, planning, and implementation

Supervisory

  • Participate with staff development activities relating to mental health/substance use diagnoses and treatment provision
  • Provide clinical expertise or trainings for internal needs and external stakeholders

Consumer Relations

  • Serve as the primary contact for youth family members 
  • Communicate with placing agents as needed and when requested
  • Participate in Child and Family Team meetings as requested by state agencies (DCS or Probation).

Skills, Supervision, Knowledge, and Ability

  • Must be a strong facilitator of group treatment modalities including the Matrix Program, CBT, DBT, etc.
  • Must complete training and utilize Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) with youth needing treatment for trauma  
  • Must be able to deliver Family Education training to families at different socioeconomic levels 
  • Participate and complete Teaching Family Model of Care training
  • Participate with staff development activities relating to mental health diagnoses and treatment provision

Physical Demands of Position

  • Must be able to actively participate in the physical restraint of youth who are in crisis (expected to meet the requirements of Mindset restrictive interventions).
  • Must be able to handle the stress of intervening in crisis situations, handling medical emergencies, and be able to make quick decisions considering the risk management needs of the organization
  • Must be able to do significant walking

Working Conditions

  • Normal work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Flexibility will be required to meet the specific needs of the Recovery Services Program
  • The Recovery Therapist will be required to work one evening per week to facilitate Family Education group
  • Participate in the Residential Campus on-call clinical rotation
  • Must attend work regularly and be on time
  • Must be able to work with residents' medical problems, including exposure to bodily fluids.
