RISE YOUTH PROGRAMME TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
The RISE YOUTH Prevention Programme continues with members of the Indian Walk Police Youth Club. There were four (4) training sessions conducted during the month of August with the group of youths. The topics covered include:
- Explain why substance use prevention is important to the well-being and health of a nation
- Discuss the relationship between epidemiology and prevention
- Describe the interactions of the macro- and micro-level influences with personal characteristics that contribute to substance use behaviours
- Explain the need for comprehensive and integrated prevention and treatment interventions/services
- Define and discuss the etiology model and micro- and macro- environments
- Define the roles of families, schools, workplace, media and community
- Discuss how families, schools, workplace, media, and community impact youth and substance use
These sessions were very informative and interactive as participants had the opportunity express how the different roles play in their lives as risk or protective factors. Additionally they expressed how their personal micro and macro environment can influence them and what can be done to reduce negative risks factors. There was also an online emancipation celebration that celebration emancipation day in Trinidad and Tobago on August 1st, 2022.
Attached are images of the sessions.
