Due to an increase in funding , an exciting opportunity  has arisen to join an expanding , dynamic stop smoking team. We are looking for two Tobacco Dependence Advisors . The post holders will contribute to supporting people within the borough, who want to stop smoking or using tobacco, contributing to the reduction of smoking rates thus improve the health of the local population, reduce smoking related ill health, disability and preventable death and reduce health inequalities.       

The postholders will provide evidenced based, specialist behavioural support and advice to smokers who want to quit. The postholder will be expected to deliver support through established community groups, one to one and telephone interventions. The postholder will be expected to deliver within locally defined areas covering a number of clinics in a range of settings.

The post holder will:

  • To provide smoking cessation advice and support through established groups, one to one and telephone interventions in local community settings. 
  • To provide smoking cessation interventions in line with the evidence base and to agreed National standards
  • Utilise motivational techniques, assess client’s motivation to quit smoking and maintain relationships with the client group to support smoking cessation 
  • Develop an action plan with the client and discuss the use of appropriate pharmacological support suitable to them.
  • Extensive relevant knowledge of evidence-based information on smoking cessation approaches and methods
  • Attend bespoke training events as required for career and continuous professional development.
