Training for Mental Health and Rights Support for Women Who Use Drugs
A 3 day long residential training was held to ensure mental health and rights support for women who use drugs. On Thursday (November 14), the closing ceremony of this training, which started on November 12, took place at the training center of the NGO Forum for Public Health in Lalmatia, Dhaka.
This training was conducted for field staff of the "VIV Health Care Positive Action" project, managed under the Health and WASH sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, aimed at reducing the HIV/AIDS risk among women who use drugs and ensuring mental health support for improving their quality of life. The three-day training was attended by field workers from eight centers across seven HIV/AIDS vulnerable districts in Bangladesh.
At the closing ceremony of the training program, Iqbal Masud, Director of Health and WASH Sector at Dhaka Ahsania Mission, emphasized the importance of providing mental health services to women drug users based on their situation and adjacent environment. He urged the trainees to apply the knowledge gained during the training in their workplaces to ensure better services for the vulnerable key population.
Dr. Zobayda Nasreen, Assistant Line Director of the HIV/AIDS Program of the Bangladesh Government, assured the participants of all possible support for people living with HIV/AIDS, in line with field-level needs.
The closing ceremony was moderated by Dr. Mary Gloria Rosario and was attended by Rounak Khan, Chief of Party of Save the Children International Bangladesh; Technical Advisor Ejazul Islam Chowdhury; Senior Manager Salima Sultana of SCI and Nilufa, Secretary of strategic partner SWN.
