The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) leads the campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the Philippines. It was established in 1972 through Republic Act 6425 composed of only seven national government agencies as members. In 2002, the law was repealed by Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 to give more teeth to the law and to respond to new challenges against drugs. The law mandates the DDB to develop and adopt comprehensive, integrated, unified and balanced national drug abuse prevention and control strategy. It is composed of seventeen (17) ex-officio members, who are heads or secretaries of other government agencies in the country.
