Clinical Psychologist (Drug Abuse Program Coordinator - MAT Program)

Responsibilities

  • Functions as the Drug Abuse Program (DAP) Coordinator in the Psychology Services Department at a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facility which provides a full spectrum of programs and services for inmates with a history of alcohol and drug abuse.

  • Responsible for the provision and oversight of the Medication-Assisted Treatment Program.

  • Directs and supervises all clinical activities and staff in relation to the drug treatment of Bureau inmates, including: testing, test interpretation, clinical diagnosis, clinical staffing of inmates with staff and serving as the institution advocate for drug programs with all staff, including executive staff.

  • Responsible for the provision of highly-skilled drug abuse treatment protocols and supervision of all drug abuse treatment staff, is the expert on offender drug treatment and therefore serves as the drug program resource person to other psychologists, staff members, and operating officials.

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, supervising and evaluating drug abuse programs.

  • Responsible for initiating a treatment program and for implementing and monitoring the treatment program in compliance with Bureau of Prisons’ policy and the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994.

  • Responsible for the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide variety of psychological testing instruments and procedures, including objective and projective instruments of personality assessment; intelligence tests; and tests and inventories of interests, aptitude, criminality, and achievement.

  • Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Basic Requirements:

Degree: Satisfactory completion of all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
