He is a graduate of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He has been a professor at UNAM and several private universities. He is an Academic Advisor of the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Incarnate Word University.
As a researcher at the National Institute of Psychiatry Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz, he has participated with the WHO and PAHO. Also, he has a large number of national and international articles and books and is part of the editorial board of several journals. He has been responsible for the School Community Surveys and the National Addiction Surveys.
He is a Level II National Researcher of the National System of Researchers. He is a member of the UNODC International Scientific Network, Also, he is scientific advisor to the Inter-American Observatory on Drugs. He currently works on the diagnosis and prevention of drug use in children and adolescents.
