ISSUP estuvo presente en la Reunión Regional de la Coalición Global para Abordar las Amenazas de las Drogas Sintéticas en Latinoamérica.

The Secretariat for Comprehensive Drug Policies of the Argentine Nation (SEDRONAR), in collaboration with the Drug Advisory Program of the Colombo Plan (DAP), together with the OAS-CICAD, UNODC, and with the support of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State in Washington, organised the regional meeting of Drug Commissions of Latin America. The event took place on December 10 and 11, 2024, at the San Martín Palace in Buenos Aires.

The meeting was attended by over 200 national and international experts who shared their experiences to develop strategies aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in response to the challenges posed by new synthetic psychoactive substances.

During the discussion panels, participants addressed experiences in the prevention, treatment, and recovery from synthetic drug use, provided recommendations, and explored emerging challenges.

The importance of providing assistance at various levels to vulnerable populations was emphasised, with a particular focus on youth and individuals in contact with the criminal justice system, including alternatives to incarceration.
