Research Assistant Professor - University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The Research Assistant Professor (RAP) will oversee and coordinate all aspects of active data collection projects under the direction of Dr. Timothy Nelson in the Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience (DCN) Lab and the Center for Brain, Biology, and Behavior (CB3). This will entail supervising a team of project staff and students to ensure high-quality data collection and management on NIH-funded projects, as well as monitoring project compliance protocols and completing required reporting (e.g., IRB, NIH annual reporting). The RAP will contribute to dissemination activities, including preparing manuscripts and presentations using data from the lab. The RAP will also contribute to the preparation of external grant applications with Dr. Nelson and lab collaborators. Finally, the RAP will also have the opportunity to leverage lab resources to develop their own research program that is synergistic with Dr. Nelson's.

About Us:

The Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience (DCN) Lab at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of faculty, staff, and students conducting research broadly focused on the interplay between development and health. The lab’s work integrates developmental, neuroscience, health, and systems perspectives to better understand key health behaviors (e.g., diet, sleep, physical activity, substance use) and outcomes (e.g., obesity, psychopathology) during critical periods of development, with a particular emphasis on the role of regulation processes. Current research in the lab is funded by NIH (R01DK125651, 2R01DK116693) and involves a variety of data collection modalities including fMRI, bioimpedance, actigraphy, multiple 24-hour dietary recall, questionnaires, and environmental geocoding. The DCN Lab is affiliated with the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior, a hub for interdisciplinary neuroscience research, which features a new 3 Tesla Cima.X MRI scanner.

Substance Use and Addiction Research Scientist - California Department of Public Health

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by protecting the public’s health, promoting health and wellness, and optimizing data and technology.

Under the general supervision of the Research Scientist Supervisor (RSS) I, the Research Scientist (RS) II (Epidemiology/Biostatistics) will participate in the development and implementation of public health surveillance related to substance use, overdose, and addiction. Quantitative Research Intern - University of Sheffield

The Division of Population Health in the School of Medicine and Population Health is looking to appoint a part-time Research Intern to undertake a research project mapping the type of advice that alcohol treatment and recovery services give to clients on the use of alcohol-free and low-alcohol drinks.

The project will use a quantitative approach involving collection and analysis of survey data from service providers in Great Britain. You will work on finalising the survey questions, disseminating the online survey, and collecting and analysing the data. You will also contribute to writing a publication for a peer-reviewed scientific journal and disseminating the findings at meetings with public health policy stakeholders, practitioners and other researchers.

You will be embedded within the Sheffield Addictions Research Group (SARG), a highly interdisciplinary group of around 25 researchers and PhD students. You will also participate in regular team meetings, training seminars and journal club. You will be directly supported by a supervisor who will arrange weekly check-in meetings with you to monitor progress.

You should have an undergraduate or master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject and experience of carrying out quantitative survey research relevant to public health.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Finalise survey questions and transfer the survey onto the Qualtrics data collection platform.
  • Identify and contact alcohol treatment and recovery service providers in Great Britain to inform them of the survey and recruit them to take part.
  • Disseminate the survey via email to treatment and recovery service providers.
  • Analyse the collected data in SPSS, Stata, R or similar quantitative data analysis software.
  • Document your research including analyses, findings and interpretations of all data, maintaining records and databases as appropriate.

Research Assistant: Psychopharmacology and Emotion Research Laboratory (PERL) - University of Oxford

About the Role

The post is funded for 12 months and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.  

You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the research project.  You will recruit and screen patients with depression as well as healthy participants. Outcome measures involve changes in cognition and emotional processing, measured using fMRI, behavioural cognitive testing and physiological measures.  This study will require adherence to Good Clinical Practice and liaison with medical and nursing professionals at the NIHR Clinical Research Faculty.

 

About You

You will have a first degree in relevant discipline (e.g. Neuroscience, Psychology).  Demonstrable research experience, including the ability to independently manage the day-to-day running of a research project including scheduling assessment sessions and liaising with other researchers and staff at multiple sites is essential.  You will also possess sufficient specialist knowledge in cognitive neuroscience, psychopharmacology or clinical psychology and experience running psychological tasks in human participants.  A Master’s degree in a relevant subject and experience of analysing fMRI data would be desirable.

The Policy and Research Intern will work in collaboration with the Ontario Brain Institute and CCSA’s research and policy teams. The intern will help establish a national network for Canada’s brain economy and will work with the network to identify opportunities for policy action, partnerships, and innovation in this emerging sector. This six-month internship is designed not only to contribute to research, analysis, and policy development but also to give the successful candidate meaningful exposure to research management, product development, governance, and administration. Role Purpose

The Operations Assistant will play a central role in ensuring the smooth running of the organisation by managing operational, HR, and administrative functions. This role will support staff across the organisation, coordinate resources, and act as the main point of contact for internal and external operational matters.

You will be an outstanding communicator with a proven ability to translate complex information into engaging content. Some knowledge of drug demand reduction or related healthcare fields would be helpful for this role but is not essential.

  • 2-3 years’ experience of working in communications ideally in the NGO/charity sector
  • Excellent producer of content. Able to understand ISSUP’s key messages and stakeholders and produce relevant and engaging content for website, newsletter, social media, leaflet, power points, etc.
  • Excellent writing skills, including being able to write for different channels and audiences

Faith / Youth Project Coordinator

Position Summary

The Faith and Youth Project Coordinator will support the delivery of ISSUP’s Faith and Youth Workplan 2025–26, advancing engagement with faith-based and youth partners across regions.

The postholder will be responsible for organising, events, communications, and partnerships that strengthen substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery initiatives among faith communities and young people. This includes organising webinars and training events, supporting National Chapters, producing learning materials, and building networks that foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1.     Faith-Based Initiatives

  • Coordinate regional and global faith-based activities including:
    • Knowledge exchange sessions with Catholic and faith-based leaders.
    • Virtual meetings and online networks for traditional leaders in Africa in collaboration with the African Union.
    • Skills-building workshops with mosque-based leaders.
    • Training activities for clergy and community leaders to deter youth involvement in illicit or criminal activity.
  • Produce and promote webinars, podcasts, and online content relevant to faith-based substance use prevention.
  • Moderate online discussions and networks supporting faith-based engagement.

2.     Youth Engagement and Network Development

  • Support the development of a vibrant ISSUP Youth Network engaging adolescents, students, and young professionals.

  • Facilitate and encourage youth involvement in ISSUP’s in-person and virtual events (e.g., conferences, webinars, and National Chapter activities).

  • Experience working with faith-based organisations and/or youth development programs.
  • Experience in communicating and building positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills including writing reports, newsletters or social media posts.
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages (French, Spanish, or Arabic) are an advantage.

Research Assistant, NCETA - Flinders University

Under general supervision, the Research Assistant will work under general direction to support the Research team and Director with a variety of research activities across a range of different projects with the National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA).

NCETA is an internationally recognised Research Centre that works as a catalyst for change in the alcohol and other drugs field. A collaborative venture between Flinders University and the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, NCETA is located within the College of Medicine and Public Health and is part of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) at Flinders University in South Australia. NCETA is a key national research centre in the alcohol and other drug field. The Centre works to reduce the harms from alcohol and other drugs from prevention through to treatment. A key focus of the Centre is workforce development (WFD).

Assistant Professor, Rural Mental Health & Substance Use - University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies (CYAF) is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track (9-month appointment) Assistant Professor with a focus in the areas of rural mental health and/or substance use to begin August 2026. 

 

The successful candidate will bring expertise in research and teaching that will contribute to the national and international reputation of our programs, department, and university. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Rural Drug Addiction Research (RDAR) Center (https://rdar.unl.edu/), an NIH-funded Center for Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE), to engage in cutting-edge research that builds on the strengths of the RDAR Center. The faculty member will be well positioned to leverage RDAR Center data to better understand the causes and consequences of substance use and related outcomes, and to inform prevention and intervention approaches.

The candidate’s teaching and research will complement existing departmental focus areas (e.g., early childhood education, child development, adolescent and young adulthood, trauma, and health disparities across the life course). The successful candidate will conduct innovative research and provide high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Human Development and Family Studies and Global Family Health and Well-Being programs in the CYAF department.

The jobholder will work as a second national expert (SNE) under the supervision of the Head of the crime, markets and precursors (CMP) sector within the Policy, crime and markets (PCM) unit. The SNE will contribute to the development, further enhancement and promotion of the competences of the EUDA in drug markets, crime and security, particularly the practices of law enforcement. The successful applicant will be requested to perform the following main tasks and responsibilities:

  • assist in the conceptualisation, development and implementation of the monitoring of drug markets and crime in Europe, particularly in the field of law enforcement;
  • contribute to the development of high-quality data reporting tools and instruments;
  • liaise with relevant operational, policy and information collection bodies at national, European and international levels and with relevant scientific EUDA staff;
  • support the development of the EUDA Reference Group on drug markets and crime;
  • analyse and report on European data on markets, crime and drug supply reduction;
  • monitor and analyse the main developments in drug-supply reduction activities and policies in Europe with a particular focus on law enforcement bodies and organisations;
  • carry out the administrative and organisational tasks necessary for the successful implementation of the above-mentioned activities and tasks (including the preparation of work plans, meetings, contracts and ad-hoc reporting tasks);
  • represent the EUDA in relevant scientific and institutional meetings and training events;
  • any other tasks assigned by the Head of sector or the Head of unit.

The Substance Abuse Recovery Unit (SARU) is responsible for the implementation of evidence-based practices and operational support to facilitate individual participation in promising practices/programs designed to decrease recidivism, which increases staff, incarcerated individual, and public safety.

The Department of Corrections, in collaboration with its criminal justice partners, will contribute to staff and community safety and hold incarcerated individuals accountable by conducting appropriate substance use disorder assessments and treatment to assess the risk and needs of the population and by providing services to address the risks and needs across the continuum in the least restrictive setting needed to ensure protection of staff, incarcerated individuals and public.

This position will work in the capacity as a licensed Substance Use Disorder Professional or Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee, providing all clinical elements in DOC Substance Use Disorder Treatment services in accordance with the ASAM Criteria Manual, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-5), and the Washington State Administrative Code (WAC’s). Substance Use Disorder assessments and treatment are based on nationally recognized assessment and treatment criteria. This position requires, by state law (WAC 246-341-0610 (1)(b)), specialized training, DOH certification, and client case management to include maintaining treatment records law WAC’s and Federal Confidentiality laws 42 CFR Part 2. Assessment and treatment outcomes may be utilized by executive level representatives from all divisions within the Department of Corrections.
